This one helped influence negotiations at the international level and ignited a global movement.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Through strategic partnerships and a year-long impact campaign, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/plasticpeopledoc.com\/\"><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Plastic People: <\/span><\/i><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Hidden Crisis of Microplastics <\/span><\/i><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">reached policymakers, communities and individuals worldwide, shifting the conversation around microplastics from an environmental issue to a critical public health concern.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14px;\">Now, as the film will be premiering on <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbc.ca\/independentproducers\/genres\/documentary\/the-nature-of-things\" style=\"font-size: 14px;\">CBC Nature Of Things<\/a><span style=\"font-size: 14px;\"> on March 20th and then streaming across Canada on CBC Gem the following day, here are some highlights and lessons learned from the impact campaign behind the documentary.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong><span style=\"font-size: 14px;\">A Campaign with A Purpose\u00a0<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14px;\">The impact campaign - created and executed by Good Measure Productions for White Pine Pictures - had three goals in mind:\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Raise awareness about microplastics as a public health priority\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Influence international policy - particularly at the Intergovernmental Negotiating Committee on Plastic Pollution (both INC-4 and INC-5)<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Empower citizens with actionable steps and tools to implement impact on a local and national level\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">By leveraging a successful film festival run, relationships with impact partners, community and educational screenings, and digital engagement, the campaign ensured that <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Plastic People<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> didn\u2019t just spark conversations - it led to meaningful change.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Key Highlights from Final Impact Report\u00a0<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14px;\"><em><strong>Global Reach<\/strong>:<\/em> The film was screened in 21 countries, including high-profile events at the UN Plastics Treaty negotiations (with over 45 nations represented!).\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<span style=\"font-size: 14px;\">Over 150 in-person screenings, including film festivals, grassroots community events, and educational initiatives.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<span style=\"font-size: 14px;\">22 Laurels: Plastic People was screened at 22 film festivals around the globe, winning 2 awards.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><span style=\"font-size: 14px;\"><strong><em>Localized Action<\/em><\/strong>: in 6 months, the film was screened at 51 community and educational screenings working with individuals, small non-profits, and local groups to help spread the word.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong><em>Influence on Policymaking<\/em><\/strong>: The film was presented to UN delegates, ministers, and environmental leaders, shaping conversations on microplastics in international regulations.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong><em>Engagement &amp; Awareness<\/em><\/strong>: With support from 18 impact partners, including WWF, Break Free From Plastic, Environmental Defence and Plastic Pollution Coalition, the campaign reached thousands through social media, educational resources, and advocacy efforts.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14px;\"><em><strong>Education &amp; Community Impact<\/strong><\/em>: The campaign provided curriculum guides, discussion materials, and a screening toolkit to help schools, universities, and community groups continue the conversation.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14px;\">How to Turn a Documentary into a Social Change Movement<\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Plastic People<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> campaign is a good example of how a well-executed impact campaign can turn a documentary into a movement on a global scale.
