Sholeh’s Experience at the Banff Festival: Pitching “Moving the Needle”
Hey everyone! I just got back from the Banff World Media Festival, and wow, what an experience! Over the last few years, I’ve attended more as a sponge—soaking up all the knowledge and networking like a pro. But this year, things were a bit different. I was there to pitch my new documentary series, Moving the Needle, alongside my amazing partner, Nora Felder. You might know her as the music supervisor for hits like Stranger Things and Yellow Jackets. Our other partner, Jeanne Beker (yes, the iconic host of Fashion Television), was cheering us on from afar.
We had some specific groups in mind as potential partners for our project, and let me tell you, the energy was electric! This was my first time pitching with Nora, and while there can be those typical growing pains when working with someone new, we clicked right from the start. It was like a well-rehearsed duet, each of us bringing our own unique flair to the conversation.
What made these pitch sessions stand out was how they felt more like conversations rather than the usual one-sided pitches. That’s always a good sign! There’s something magical about engaging with potential partners and sharing ideas in a collaborative way. Banff really is one of my favourite places to connect with people in this business. I can’t spill too much yet, but I’m genuinely excited about how well everything went.
Stay tuned—I can’t wait to share more about our journey with Moving the Needle soon!
Until next time!
