Introduction
In the world of filmmaking, the right location can make all the difference. As producers of “Eclipse,” a fantasy-realism film set in Tehran, my co-directors Atefeh Khademolreza and Samuel Kiehoon Lee, along with my producing partner Heather Haldane, embarked on a whirlwind trip to Athens. Our mission? To explore whether this ancient city could stand in for Tehran and bring our vision to life.

Why Athens?
Tehran is a city rich in culture, history, and architecture. We sought locations that could capture the essence of this vibrant city while also offering a backdrop that resonates with our film’s themes. Athens, with its stunning blend of ancient and modern, provided an intriguing parallel. The energy of the city, the textures of the streets, and the historical significance made it an ideal candidate for our scout.

The Pre-Scout Adventure
Our trip was intense but rewarding. We met with our Greek partners, who guided us through potential filming locations. From bustling markets to abandoned hotels, we discovered a range of settings that could seamlessly substitute for Tehran’s sites. Some locations felt like hidden gems, with unique characteristics that could add depth to our film.

Working with Local Talent
One of the highlights of our scouting trip was collaborating with the local team in Greece. Their expertise and knowledge of the area were invaluable, making our search smoother and more fruitful. It’s always inspiring to work with creative minds who understand the nuances of their city.

Looking Ahead
As we prepare for filming next year, this pre-scout has set the foundation for a successful production. We’re excited about the possibilities Athens offers and can’t wait to bring the story of “Eclipse” to life. Stay tuned for more updates as we continue this creative journey!

Conclusion
Location scouting is more than just finding a backdrop; it’s about discovering spaces that enhance storytelling. Our experience in Athens was not only productive but also invigorating, fuelling our passion for the film. We can’t wait to share more as “Eclipse” progresses.
