Impact Case Study Panel at Eco Film Festival

Woman at desk recording virtual panel

As part of the Planet in Focus Film Festival this week, our founder Sholeh Alemi Fabbri was invited to participate in an impact case study panel because of her impact producer services for the new documentary Last of the Right Whales (LOTRW). As the closing night film of the renowned environmental festival, it was exciting to be able to share the work being done on the impact campaign at the early stages of the work alongside Director/Producer Nadine Pequeneza, Executive Producer/Impact Producer Joanne Jackson, and NGO partner Pat Zaat from IFAW with Planet in Focus’ Julian Carrington moderating.

Nadine shared why having an impact campaign to support her film about critically endangered North Atlantic right whales was always part of the plan. Joanne talked about the early days of finding impact partners and raising funds to support the campaign by attending different conferences and festivals. Pat discussed why an NGO like IFAW signed on to partner with LOTRW before the film was finished in order to help amplify the work they are doing for North Atlantic right whales both in Canada and the US.

When Sholeh first joined the LOTRW team she also worked to help raise money and find new partners through presentations and applying for funding to multiple potential groups. It was wonderful to get to discuss why a campaign like this is so valuable to various organizations as well as the whales. Now her main focus on the team is engagement – whether that is through digital strategy or working on education and discussion guides. On the panel, she discusses how they look to connect with different audiences and are using multiple platforms to reach them.
