Exciting Opportunity

Doc Edge Festival Launches Good Pitch Aotearoa NZ in 2021

Over 12 years ago, Good Pitch by Doc Society started in the UK as a way to “connect the world’s best social justice films with new allies and partners”. Since then the Good Pitch concept has traveled the globe with programs now taking place in 15 countries.

This year Doc Edge Festival in New Zealand launches its inaugural Good Pitch Aotearoa NZ program. In the lead-up to the festival, Doc Edge is offering an opportunity to filmmakers outside of Good Pitch to meet with impact producers in an Impact Lab to get insights and suggestions on how to make their own impact campaigns stronger.  I’m glad to share that I am one of those impact producers meeting with a number of filmmaking teams.

The films that I’m advising on tell very different stories and cover a range of issues including children’s rights, racial injustice, criminal justice as well as health and disabilities rights. My role is to talk about their strategy and offer suggestions to make the most of their engagement with audiences to move the needle on the issue at hand. For me, that means looking for ways to expand reach, finding untapped resources, and aligning with new partners.

I’m keen to meet with the teams, learn more about their goals, and help bring their vision to fruition. It’s one of the best parts of this industry when we can support, challenge, and energize one another.
