Citizen Minutes World Premiere: A Night of Stories, Solidarity, and Social Impact

Citizen Minutes 3 Filmmakers and Changemakers on red carpet posing at world premiere

We’re still buzzing from the sold-out Citizen Minutes World Premiere at Hot Docs Film Festival! Last week’s event marked a powerful beginning for the 2025 cohort of short documentary films—and the official launch of their national impact campaign.

From the moment the lights dimmed, the energy in the room was electric. Seeing audiences respond so deeply to these six new stories and the changemakers behind them was truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience for our filmmakers. Each film runs under 12 minutes, but their emotional resonance is lasting, offering new ways to engage in dialogue, action, and change across Canada.

Meet the 2025 Citizen Minutes Films:

Becoming Ruby
Follow Ruby Chopstix, Canada’s first drag artist-in-residence, as they carve out a joyful, vibrant space for queer BIPOC representation in the arts.

Crossing the Divide
Can empathy thrive in polarized times? This film brings together two Canadians—one conservative, one liberal—in a raw, anonymous dialogue that explores what it means to bridge political divides.

La femme équi-LIBRE
In rural PEI, Josée Gallant Gordons reinvents mental health care with a bilingual equine therapy practice, bringing healing and access to those often overlooked.

Hommes-relais
Manuel, a former doctor and immigrant himself, supports newcomer men as they navigate grief and transition—offering care, community, and hope.

Red Girl Rising
Joyce Jonathan Crone, a Mohawk matriarch and retired teacher, shares her life of activism, education, and resilience in the face of injustice and trauma.

A Stop Gap Measure
Luke Anderson and the StopGap Foundation are rethinking accessibility—one portable ramp at a time—challenging how we design and define inclusive public spaces.

These stories are powerful, urgent, and hopeful—and now they’re ready to spark conversation across the country. Connect with the team at Good Measure Productions and we’ll answer any questions you may have about screening the films – for free – in your community!
