Exciting Opportunity
Story Money Impact: Organization Calls For Applications.
As the Canadian impact producing industry evolves, I am excited to see and support organizations that aim to grow this area of the business in this country. Story Money Impact (SMI) is a non-profit organization that looks to do just that by supporting social justice and environmental films. Some of their initiatives include Good Pitch Vancouver, workshops, and mentorships. I’ve had the opportunity to virtually attend a few SMI events this year – one at Hot Docs and another was a case study about the impact campaign for the film 14 & Muslim. I found both events insightful and interesting.
The organization also has new opportunities for 2021 with a program called STORY TO ACTION and there is an open call for applications now until JUNE 13th. They’ll select five documentary films that address pressing social and environmental issues and support those projects with the creation of impact strategies, attraction of community partners, and the hosting of screenings and dialogues with the goal of using the film as a tool to create positive change.
STORY TO ACTION is inspired by the Good Pitch Vancouver program, and is experimenting with being an entirely virtual program with broader eligibility and longer-lasting support! Apply now at www.storymoneyimpact.com/storytoaction.
